An Organization is a type of (a complex data type in AllDrafts) that encapsulates all of the information about an organization that might be used to fill in fields in a contract or document template.
The legal name of the organization, including trailing suffixes like ", Inc." or ", LLC". Forms without suffixes will also be matched and associated.
This field auto-completes with every mailable address in the United States. This should be the principal address that would appear in a contract preamble.
Under the hood, particularly after a paste or import, it is possible for more than one address to be affiliated with an organization, but generally there is one address per organization and per person. And if a person is affiliated with an organization and has no address, the organization address will be used for that person.
This is often not the same state as appears in the address (for example, many corporations around the United States are incorporated in Delaware, but have a principal address elsewhere).
This is the language you'd like to use when this organization is a party described in a contract, e.g. "a Delaware corporation", or "an institution of higher education having powers under the laws of the State of California". Use the complete phrase.
With the State or Province of Registration, used for notarization forms and venue clauses.
Rarely used in the United States, but provided to international organizations where contracts typically include a government registration number.
Standard contact fields.
People can be associated with an organization for the purpose of Notice-to clauses, signing on behalf of the organization, etc. When a person is added to the Affiliated People list they will be shown indented below the organization name in the Facts / PII panel.
Note that the same person may appear multiple times in the Entities list: in their capacity as an Affiliated person and as an un-affiliated individual, or even affiliated with another organization. (For example, someone might sign a single contract as an officer of a corporation and also in their personal capacity.)
Typically these instance of the Person will have different addresses and contact information (e.g. a corporate mailing address and email, and a home address and personal email) -- they are maintained as two different people by the system.
